FORMS + STRUCTURE- Volunteer Application – is it specific enough? Call in sheet? Tracking of email follow-up, Assignment forms? checklists?, calendars? STAFF INTERACTION -Does your staff know + share their volunteer needs? Do they provide job descriptions? Do you offer forms that help? Do they show the love? BOARD SERVICE-What expertise is your organization looking for? Sectors needed in the community? How do you introduce/vet them? Is there a corporate culture of development? COMMUNICATION PATH – Do you have a process to volunteer? Does staff participate? … Email, text, posters at center, reminders, staff, website lists, etc. …the easier you make it for the volunteer, the more they flock to your organization. FINDING GREAT VOLUNTEERS- Websites, Hospitals/Child Life Specialists, High Schools, University/College, Corporate Community Service, Alternative Spring Breaks, etc.

TRAININGS Modified over the years due to time constraints, flexibility STAFF INTERACTION celebrating successes …new grandmom, singing and other interests, trip, health concerns, THEY MATTER BOARD SERVICE excursions to bond our board, include them in volunteer correspondence, change a face-to-face meeting to conference call or lunch meeting COMMUNICATION PATH Reply promptly,Holiday wishes, happy mom day, birthday, cookies, support their other interests. Expectations are refreshing SPECIAL OFFERINGS Planned outings with benefits Magic games, movies as a group, Free Yoga, ‘can my friend come’ opportunities.
