Connecting to Projectors Troubleshooting Basics
Riddle Me This… • What is Irish and sits around behind the house?
Riddle Me This… • What is Irish and sits around behind the house? • Paddy O’Furniture
Power Points • All units need power to get video working • If nothing lit up, check wall plug and switch on plug strip (or surge protector/battery backup). • Check lights on splitter and Elmo
Elmo connections • Video in, out, USB and power connectors make this a mess to deal with! • Note: The thumb screws don’t need to be really tight.
Laptop to Projector • The video out from laptop passes through the Elmo then on to projector. • The F5 button (or ?) has 3 way switch. • Elmo decides whether camera or comp is sent.
Laptop to ProjectorAlternate method • If signal is weak, projector may lose image and search constantly. This may help. • USB cable required as well as ImageMate software. Picture may not be full screen.
Splitter Connections • Video in comes from Elmo/computer and requires a special M/F video cable. • Outputs go to monitor and to projector. Same image will show on both.
Splitter connections 2 • Special video cable required for input
Desktop to Projector • Video out from computer passes through Elmo to video in of splitter then to both monitor and projector.
Desktop to ProjectorAlternate method • Computer output connects directly to splitter input. • Elmo connects via USB – ImageMate software required.
But, it could be worse… • Much, much worse!
Wireless Basic Troubleshooting • 1. Make sure the wireless adapter is selected and in the “on” position on laptops. • 2. Always check the signal strength and make sure it’s strong enough for a good connection. • 3. Make sure there is actually a wireless network to connect to. There are times when the wireless part of the network experiences problems that may prevent any wireless connectivity.
Basic Sound Troubleshooting • 1. Make sure the speakers have power. • 2. Make sure speakers are not muted through the computer’s volume control. • 3. Check the volume level on the actual speaker system. • 4. Check device manager in Windows to make sure there are no driver/software conflicts. • 5.Check all connections to make sure they are secure.
Basic Mouse Troubleshooting • 1. When using a wireless mouse, make sure the batteries are charged. • 2. If using a wired mouse, make sure that it is plugged in securely to the computer. • 3. When using older mice with roller balls, remove the ball periodically and clean the rollers inside. • 4. When using optical mice, make sure it is on a non-reflective surface to prevent “jumping” of the cursor.
