Command economies are characterized by government ownership and control of all resources and factors of production. In these systems, all economic decisions are centrally made, which can lead to a lack of freedoms and personal choices. Prominent figures like Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, and Vladimir Lenin advocated for socialism, addressing class struggles and the inequities of capitalism. The Soviet Union is a historical example of a command economy, where government plans dictated agricultural and industrial outputs, leading to widespread shortages and suffering among the populace.
