  2. What is a Music Magazine Used For? • A music magazine is used to create profit for companies, either conglomerate or independent

  4. What Is an Independent Company? • An independent company is made up of only a couple of people and they are funded through advertising, so their magazines include a lot of advertisements and only a few articles

  7. What is Readership? • Readership is the amount of people that read the magazine, solo readership is when someone is included in the target audience and may also have a subscription to the magazine and read the issues often, and always has a bigger value than circulation.

  8. What is Circulation? • The amount of issues bought of a certain magazine in that certain amount of time

Who is the ABC and what do they do? • The audit bureau of circulation (ABC) are the people that check up on magazines and find out all their statistics and send them a certificate so many times a year, they are a non profit circulation organisation which gives magazines information about readership, circulation and audience, for the magazines and newspapers

  10. What is a Music Magazine? • A music magazine is a way of portraying news, exciting articles about people in the music industry which include many genres

  13. Do Bauer Media cater for niche or mainstream audience? • Bauer media caters for a mainstream audience as they’ve got a big readership and circulation percentage which shows that a lot of people reads/buys their magazines which makes the company mainstream.

Cost? • The mean age is 25 as they have a lot of disposable income or money to waste • You can tell this is a mainstream magazine as of their circulation and readership statistics as they are pretty large • 48% of their audience has an ABC1 profile, which means they are higher up the working ladder, as they have jobs and are either self employed or have managerial status

MOJO • The mean age is 37 which means that they will be in work so it is a more mature magazine for middle age people whereas kerrang’s mean age is 25, mojos target audience probably would have as much money to spend on magazines as their ABC1 profile is 66% which means 66% of the target audience has managerial status or works for themselves/self employed
