  3. Special Populations

  4. Core Subject Completion Breakdown **Completed as of April 16, 2012

  5. Standardized Testing Results % of Students Who Scored Above 15 While VR Tech’s ACT score average only went up a small amount the number of student scoring above 15 went up more significantly. Even more importantly the number of student scoring below 12 was reduced dramatically. Teachers taught lessons to prepare the students 3 days a week beginning in December to help increase test scores.

  6. Successes Proud to have returned to HHS 2010-2011. *As of April 16, 2012

  7. Life After VR Tech VR Tech’s first graduating class June 2010.

  8. Attendance Average Daily Attendance Absences The cross comparison is a direct comparison between the average number of absences VR Tech students had for the 1st trimester at VR Tech compared to the average number of absences that the same students had the 1st trimester of their last year at Holland High.

  9. Parent Teacher Conferences Students and Parents at Conferences • Increases in Parents attending conferences can be directly attributed to the efforts of staff. The following efforts were made: • Individual phone calls were made to each student’s home • Food was served • Community Agencies and Businesses were made available to parents: Angel Food Ministries, Back to Health Wellness Chiropractic Center, Belman’s Bakery, Boys and Girls Club, City of Holland Human Relations Commission, Community Action House, Holland Hospital, Pathways of Michigan, Tulip City Beauty School, Young Lives

  10. Social Justice Award “In Education, the Social Justice award went to the Holland Public Schools VR Tech School. During its first year the school expected about 60 students to participate but more than double the number of students enrolled. This educational program is a true example of social justice, as it has encouraged many students who had fallen behind to catch up on their school credits and others who have dropped out to return and work on their diploma.” *Taken from www.cityofholland.org

  11. Michigan Association of School Administrators Winners Circle Award The goal of the Winners’ Circle is to give recognition to members whose leadership has launched or adapted an effective program or practice, that achieves results, and that could be replicated in other districts. VR Tech was given this award in the Winter of 2012.
