  2. What I know • There are lots of different types of guitars. • They can come in all different shapes and sizes. • You can get different coloured guitars. • You strum the strings to make sounds

  3. What I want to know • How many different types of guitars are there. • What is the difference between each guitar. • What noises do different guitars make. • Who are some of the greatest guitarist.

  4. How does the instrument work • The guitar strings are plucked with the fingers and fingernails, or you use a small pick made of thin plastic. This type of pick is called a "plectrum" or guitar pick. The left hand holds the neck of the guitar while the fingers pluck the strings. Different finger positions on the fret board make different notes.

  5. Guitar history • The guitar was made around 4000 years ago by a Neapolitan man named Gaetano Vinaccia. Before the development of the electric guitar and the use of synthetic materials, a guitar was defined as being an instrument having "a long, fretted neck, flat wooden soundboard, ribs, and a flat back, most often with incurved sides".

  6. Instrument family • The guitar is a string instrument of the chordophone family. There are five different instruments in this family. These instruments are Bass Guitars, Charangos, Guitars, Nonstandard Guitars and Ukuleles.

  8. Slash • Even though his real name is Paul Hudson, Slash is one of greatest guitarist of the modern era. He was born on the 23rd July 1965. He was born in Hampstead, London, United Kingdom and plays 5 different instruments. These include the Guitar, bass, talk box, banjo and vocals.

  9. Keith Urban • Keith Lionel Urban was born on 26th October 1967 in New Zealand. Even though he was born in New Zealand he was raised in Australia. He was raised Caboolture, Queensland and plays 10 different instruments. These are Vocals, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, banjo, piano, bass guitar, mandolin, bouzouki, obow and the sitar.

  10. Research • There are about 9 main guitars that people use. Some of these include electric, acoustic, twelve string, steel and base guitars. • All the different guitars make different sounds. Some are good for rock music and others classical and country. • There are three main guitars. These are the classical, the steel string and the acoustic guitar.
