  2. So, what is a SMART board? • A SMART board is a combination of a simple white board and a computer. • It is touch controlled and works with a computer and a projector. • A SMART board can be used to take notes, brainstorm ideas, save notes, practice problems, show presentations, and much more.

  3. History of SMART boards • The first SMART board was introduced in 1991by SMART technologies. • It was the first interactive white board to provide touch control of computer applications • The SMART board started off slow due to slow modems, slow processors, and Microsoft Windows software that was unstable.

  4. What can SMART boards do? • The touch screen connects to your computer and digital projector and shows your computer image. • You can control computer applications directly from the board, write notes with the SMART pens and save your work for later use.

  5. Uses In The Classroom • Write incorrect sentences on the board for students to correct. • Ideas can be brainstormed as a group and can be saved directly from the board to be handed out to students. • Presentations such as PowerPoint can be viewed and notes can be added by students. • Any other basic computer software can be used. • Basically if you can use a computer… you can use a SMART board!
