Developing New Innovative Products The expectations are high and the heat is on… NPD Drives Results • 50% of successful new products: • Achieve 33% ROI or better • Have a payback period of 2 years or less • Achieve a market share in excess of 35+% • ASSA ABLOY goal: 25% of Sales should come from NPD

  9. Product Idea Realization Problem: • Lack of new or “game changing” innovative product solutions. Cause: • Our traditional approach new product development Consequence: • Lack of customer “wowing”innovative products to drive market leadership, growth and profitability. Solution: • We need a new approach to gather and substantiate game changing product ideas - PIR

PIR Program Objectives • Develop the next generation of innovative thinkers for ASSA ABLOY America’s. • Dynamic, creative thinkers, with good communication skills, from engineering, marketing, sales, technical service, project management, etc. • Build closer relationships with customers/end users to obtain unrealized product solutions and opportunities. • Develop a platform for generating and substantiating a steady stream of new innovative product solutions for AANA’s operating companies to develop.   12. PIR Program • We will learn: • How to sort and interpret the data • How to brainstorm - turning the data into innovative concepts • How to research our concepts • How to present the concepts • Present our concepts to Management on • Did I mention that expectations are high???

PIR Program Objectives My Soapbox: • Your company’s expectation of you is to • Be the facilitator of VOC within your company • Help the company realize new product innovations • By using the PIR methods - you will be able to help your company • Develop products that your customers want • Reduce the development cycle time • Better defined projects • Minimize R&D loopbacks • New innovative products to market faster This is not to slow down the NPD development

PIR Program Objectives My Soapbox: • At the end of our PIR training • We will have 35 defined customer opportunities • We are expecting to have 100+ product concepts derived from our key opportunities • The four of us from HES • Plan on using the information from this study and use it to develop products for our EMSO group
