BODY PARAGRAPH – Opposing Viewpoint • Body Paragraph (Opposing Viewpoint): • Opposing Viewpoint #1: Many people think that year-round schooling has positive effects on education – not true! • Why wrong/flawed(include article source): - 45-15 method causes too many disruptions to learning- No evidence of higher test scores (“Year Round Schooling”) - Since 1980, 95% schools that tried YRE changed back (Prado)

  6. BODY PARAGRAPH – Opposing View Many people believe that year-round schooling has a positive impact on education. However, the opposite is actually true. Most year-round schedules use the 45-15 method where they have 45 days of school followed by 15 days off. Because of this, there are many first and last days of school. All those transitions disrupt the learning process. Also, there is no evidence of higher test scores (“Year-Round Schooling”). Many schools that change to year-round schedules end up switching back. For example, since 1980, 95 percent of schools that tried the year-round schedule changed back to a traditional calendar (Prado). Obviously changing to year-round schooling does not help students, so why is the change necessary?

  7. CONCLUSION PARAGRAPH It is evident that year-round schooling is not the best option for the school calendar. It only adds to costs, disrupts the summer vacation, and complicates sports schedules. Why change something that works so well? The final bell rings. That bell should mean that the “real” summer vacation has come. • Conclusion • Restate thesis statement Year-round school is NOT the best option for school • Briefly state arguments again Reason #1 – Adds costs Reason #2 – Disrupts summer Reason #3 – Complicates sports • Clincher (creative ending to paper) Final bell rings.
