  2. Country's people Religion: Traditionally has been syncretism with nature. Shinto a polytheistic religion with no books of religion canon. Buddhism came to Japan in the sixth century and evolved into many different sects. Art: Decorative arts in Japan date back to prehistoric times. Pottery includes examples with elaborate ornamentation. Japan population is just over 127 million, because of scientific , industrial, and sociological changes has experienced a growth rate in the past 100 years.

  3. Economy • Japans natural resources are fish, and a few mineral resources. • Agriculture: Rice, vegetables, fruit, milk, meat, silk, fish. • Industry: Machinery, and equipment, metals, and metals, textiles, chemicals, electronic equipment, processed foods.

  4. Government • Type: Constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary government. • Branches: Executive- Prime Minister (head of government). Legislative – bicameral Diet (house of Representatives and House of Councillors). Judicial- civil law system based on Roman law.

  5. Elections • Elections are based on the principle of Representative Democracy. • Secret ballot is also guaranteed, a voter shall not reveal his or her privacy on the election. • Japanese nationals are equal under the law no discrimination.

  6. Political Parties • Major parties-Democratic party, Liberal Democratic party • Third parties- New Komeito, Your party, Communist party, Social Democratic party, People’s New party, Sunrise party, New Renaissance party • Minor parties, Regional parties, Defunct parties

  7. Major Problems • A 8.9- magnitude earthquake had hit Japan on March 11,2011. • Then following the earthquake a tsunami hit Japan. • 10,000 people died • Nuclear plant explodes and radiation is in the air and water. • People evacuated the area
