  3. GROUP ACTION PLAN Your task is to write a whole class or form or school action plan to reduce the carbon footprint of your class, form or the whole school

  4. How do we achieve the target for reduction of carbon emissions? • Pretend you are in a summit. • Progress has been slowed by the lack of understanding and commitment of others in your summit to come up with action plan to reduce global warming. • Make a list of confidence building measures to boost the commitment of others so they can agree on a structure for reduction of carbon emissions. • Suggest ways of making the use of fossil fuels less attractive and formulate Action Plan to reduce Carbon Emissions.

  5. Demand for food may ruin the forest Your task • To look at the correlation between the keywords or information listed below and suggest radical measures to combat Global Warming • Large-scale deforestation • Climate change • Global land grab • Rising demand for food, wood and fuel

  6. CARBON OFFSET • What is carbon offset? A carbon offset is a financial instrument representing a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. (Definition from wikipedia) Class discussion Activity What are the role of trees in offsetting your carbon emissions?

Cutting Carbon Emissions • Targets to cut carbon emissions within the governments department and agencies are lagging far behind forecasts. • Your task is to write a letter to the local authority expressing your concern on the poor and slow progress made in reducing carbon emissions and in their pledge to go carbon neutral. And suggest ways that can lead to significant improvement in the reduction of carbon emissions in your local area/country.

Your lifestyle – Your carbon footprint • Carbon footprint is a representation of the effect human activities have on the climate in terms of the total amount of greenhouse gases produced (measured in units of carbon dioxide). • A measure of the impact we make individually on the earth by our lifestyles. YOUR TASK ( 6 minutes Activity) • Suggest activities that constitute our lifestyle and how they accelerate global warming and climate change

CARBON FOOTPRINT • What is carbon footprint? • Carbon footprint is seen as a measure of our lifestyles and their impact on the environment with reference to the amount of greenhouse gases produced, measured in units of carbon dioxide • Examples of green house gases are • water vapour • carbon dioxide • methane • nitrous oxide • ozone • CFCs
