Ancillary Structures - Bolting Overhead sign supports, sign bridges, traffic signal monotubes, high mast light poles Inspect at time of installation Proper lubrication of bolts is critical New – bolt suppliers paperwork should include suppliers rotational capacity test New – Pre-installation test for direct tension indicator (DTI) washers - contractor should submit form DT2322 to engineer Schedule with SW bridge maintenance ancillary inspector an in service initial inspection prior to opening to traffic

  7. 526.3.3 Temporary Structures • Inspect temporary structures before opening to traffic • Conform to NBIS & department’s structure inspection manual • Guidance in CMM: Chapter 5 Structures • Contractor’s Responsibility • Included in Std. Spec. 526.3.3 • Submit DT2007 to the engineer & BOS Maintenance Section • Inspector must be department-certified active team leader • List online – see CMM

  12. Masonry Anchors • Upcoming change for 2015 • New installation requirements: • ACI/CRSI Certified Installer, or • Field Verification by Non-Destructive Pullout Testing • Implementation as a part of (and guidance provided in) 2015 Standard Specifications

  13. Material Product Std. spec.“As approved by the Engineer” Does not have to be on Approved Products list. Engineer should read manufacturer’s information and determine if it is appropriate.
