  4. What does it mean to be literate in the 21st Century? Having the capacity to understand, analyze, interpret, and create messages using multiple media.

  5. Importance of Media Literacy 21st Century citizens live in a media saturated world Ability to analyze messages crucial to making informed decisions Understanding how meaning is constructed is crucial to authentic literacy

  7. Five Key Questions Who created this message? What techniques are used to attract my attention? How might different people understand this message differently from me? What lifestyles, values, and points of view are represented in, or omitted from this message? Why was this message created?
