  1. EXCELLENCE CENTER THERMOCHEMICAL CONVERSION OF SOLID FUELS – Processes of pyrolysis, gasification and combustionof biomass an wastes. WORKGROUP 3 Standardisation and testing WORKGROUP leader Alfred Tramer Ph.D.

  2. WG3 activities • Development of attestation criteria for biomass-fired boilers testing. • Development of the standardisation system of fossil and renewable fuels and waste and its harmonisation with the EU standards. • Implementation of technical evaluation procedures for biomass fired boilers.

  3. Renewable fuels and wastes Physical properties: - moisture (W), ash content (A), gross calorific value (Q), ash fusion temperatures - size distribution, bulk density - mechanic strength, thermoresistance (for pelets and briquettes) Chemical properties: - ultimate analysis C, H, O - noxious components content S, N, Cl - ash composition Renewable fuels: - chips of short rotation forestry (bark, sawdust, woodwork dust, straw) - briquettes and pelets of wastes wood materials - fuel mixtures coal/waste wood materials Wastes: - wastes from coal industry, industrial plastic wastes - briquettes and pelets of mixtures wastes/coal - segregated municipal wastes adequately processed - briquettes, pelets
