  3. Meet Mrs. Bellizzie • Please call me Lindsay! • West Chester University Graduate • Thirteenth year teaching • Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership plus 30 additional credits • Avid Reader • Mom of Mia, Nicky, Lucas

  4. Our Goals 2014-2015 • Create a respectful atmosphere • Instill resourcefulness • Challenge and encourage at all levels • Meet each student’s needs • Encourage curiosity and love of learning.

  10. Social Studies • Social Studies Alive Program • We start off with a broad study of our country’s regions and then focus in on Pennsylvania’s history, economy, geography and government.

  11. Science • FOSS Kits • Magnets and Electricity Investigations • Water Investigations, Watersheds, Wetlands • Food Chains • Space • Experiments • Observation Skills *Science PSSAs this year!!

Everyday Math Program • A math curriculum geared to demonstrate various methods to find a solution • Introduces content in small increments and frequently revisits those topics • Each lesson builds on the previous • 4th grade – multiplication and division- very big! • First In Math- 2 days/wk

  13. Assessment Formative Assessments: (ongoing) ~ Total Participation Model ~ Math Journal and math log spot checks ~ Teacher Observations Summative Assessments: ~ Traditional teacher tests and quizzes ~ District Assessments ~ Rubric based projects ~ Open ended questions

  14. Homework • Daily- Math and Reading ~ Practice and promotes responsibility ~Please check over their work ~Reading Calendar (please initial) • Consequences ~Homework Slip (miss 5 minutes of recess) ~Phone call home for repeat offenders

  15. Conferences • Conferences are held in December • Be on the lookout for an email from me to sign up for your conference time using Sign-Up Genius • Conferences are held with homeroom teacher only

  16. Scholastic • Book orders will be online only • Use class code located on my website to place your order • Scholastic News – free app available • Password is Bellizzie4

  17. Odds and Ends • Rough Day Slips- You don’t want to see these! • SSR Book- Chapter book • Daily snack (healthy) • Birthday Treats (no nuts and no cutting or scooping involved please!) Please include napkins for all. • Water Bottles- We are encouraging sport-type reusable water bottles as opposed to the plastic bottles that get tossed at the end of the day.

  18. Odd and Ends-Take Two • Pull-Out Programs – 12:30-1:00. Most supplemental reading groups and speech classes are scheduled during this time. • Instrument Day – E Day – Students are responsible for missed classroom work. • Assessment Checklists – front sheet needs to be signed and entire packet returned • Accordion/ Expandable Folder- Please clean out One Way sectionnightly. • Please make note of the PSSA windows on the district calendar. • Parent Contact lbellizz@hatboro-horsham.org jlenahan@hatboro-horsham.org
