What is Normal Birth? • No single definition • Will exclude some of the following:- • Caesarean section • Induction • Forceps/Ventouse • Epidural • Episiotomy • Acceleration • Pethidine • Continuous monitoring For purely pragmatic reasons BirthChoiceUK takes birth which does not involve any of these procedures. They looked at the data for each hospital individually, and filtered out those hospitals that were known to submit odd or duplicated data in the fields used.
