  4. Pre-plant • Soil – sandy loam • pH 5.5 • Only thing it didn’t need was sand. • Previous crop – Bermudagrass/Bahiagrass • Size- 5.8 acres (we rounded down!)

  5. Pre-Plant • May 5, 2008 Irrigated with one inch of water. • May 7, 2008 Sprayed four quarts Glyphosate/ Ac. • June 2, 2008 Bottom plowed field • June 3, 2008 applied 1 ton of dolomitic lime/ac • June 5, 2008 rolled/leveled field

  6. Establishment • June 9, 2008 Cone Farms planted plot • Planted per UF-IFAS rates • Followed planter with culti-packer • Finished at 4:45pm, started raining at 5pm (1/4 inch) • June 11, 2008 Applied ~ 1 inch irrigation

  9. July 20th , 2008 • July 18th irrigated with 1 inch of water • Two days later sprayed 16 ounces of Select (grass herbicide)

The Future? • Objective: To determine the effect of potassium source and supplemental sulfur on yields and rhizobial activity of perennial peanut on deep sands.Treatments:Control: no potassium applied over the entire trial.KCl 1x- Potassium chloride applied at the recommended rate in a single spring applicationKCl 2X- KCl applied at recommended rate in split applications- greenup and following first harvestK2SO4- 1X- applied to supply the same amount of potassium as above in a single application with potassium sulfateK2SO4- 2X- applied to supply the same amount of potassium as above in a split application with potassium sulfate KCl  2X+ S - KCl with sulfur added at a rate to match potassium sulfate appl. In split application
