Special Economic Zone – SEZ in India India's Special Economic Zones (SEZs) were created so that the country's exports could be promoted in an environment that was both competitive on the global stage and free of red tape. The Special Economic Zones Act provides for a drastic streamlining of processes and a central hub for the handling of issues involving both the Federal and state levels of government. In India, lawmakers enacted the SEZ Act Special Economic Zones in India were established thanks to the SEZ Act, 2005.
