  2. Spiritual Sight The Eternal Purpose of God Part V

  3. We have established that being transformed is necessary to inherit eternal life.

  4. 2 Peter 1:5-11 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness

  5. 2 Peter 1:5-11 charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged

  6. 2 Peter 1:5-11 from his old sins. Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: forif ye do these things, ye shall never fall: For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and

  7. 2 Peter 1:5-11 SaviourJesus Christ.

  8. Transformation Starts with Faith

  9. It all starts with preaching the Word of God.

  10. Romans 10:13-17 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach,

  11. Romans 10:13-17 except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaiassaith, Lord, who hath believed our report? So then faithcomethby

  12. Romans 10:13-17 hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

  13. Faith transforms. It transformed the great bible characters.

  14. Hebrews 11:4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.

  15. Faith that protects us from the fiery darts of Satan. is a shield

  16. Ephesians 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

  17. Faith is what everything else is built on.

  18. Jude 1:20,21 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

  19. Transformation Through the Mind

  20. The kind of mind we have defines whether we are alive or dead.

  21. Romans 8:5-7 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the

  22. Romans 8:5-7 law of God, neither indeed can be.

  23. The old mind in order to do the transformation. has to be changed

  24. Colossians 1:21,22 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight.

  25. Me, my flesh, and I… …the transitional state.

  26. Romans 7:10-25 And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death. For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me. Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good. Was then that which

  27. Romans 7:10-25 is goodmade death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful. For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. For

  28. Romans 7:10-25 that which I do I know not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth

  29. Romans 7:10-25 no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. I find then

  30. Romans 7:10-25 a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched

  31. Romans 7:10-25 man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

  32. The transformation starts with the mind.

  33. Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

  34. But must take place!!! the transformation

  35. Romans 8:12,13 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

  36. We must overcome in order to inherit!

  37. 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so

  38. 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

  39. Transformation by Teaching and Edification

  40. All teaching offices in the church are designed for the purpose of this transformation.

  41. Ephesians 4:11-15 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge

  42. Ephesians 4:11-15 of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in

  43. Ephesians 4:11-15 wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ.

  44. The Word our behavior. cleanses

  45. Psalm 119:9 Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed theretoaccording to thy word.

  46. Doctrine and reproof correction and instruction transform our hearts.

  47. 2 Timothy 3:16,17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

  48. Transformation by Works

  49. Perfection, in part, involves what we DO.

  50. Hebrews 13:20,21 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasingin
