What to bring to school Arrive no earlier than 8:45 Home-school organiser Lunch money on a Monday or A healthy lunch box P.E. kit Homework Reading book A healthy snack A water bottle Pencil case Mobile phones not allowed – if an emergency, please send a letter in or ring school (mobile to be kept in the office)
DIARIES ARE USED FOR Recording homework. As a reading record. Sharing targets General school info in front. Homework support in the back. Timetables are in the diaries – P.E., etc in here. Exception words are in here (related to academy spelling awards) Diaries.
Homework. • Reading – three times per week – record in homework diaries (needs to be initialed at home) Checked on a Friday. Help with questions for home in the diaries. • Friday- reading journal, spellings, maths • Homework projects termly. • SATs revision timetable is given 7 weeks before SATs, other homework stops at this time (SATs are 14th – 17 th May)
Reading Rewards. • Children are expected to read at least three times per week at home. Reading Challenge to be completed during the year. • Children are rewarded for this at the end of each half term. • All reading needs to be clearly shown and initialed by parent or carer. • Diaries checked Friday.
Rewards Positive points • 30 bronze, 50 silver, 100 gold Class points • 10 to earn a reward
Times Table and Spelling Certificates • Children should know up to 12x12 by the end of year four. • Children will be selected to be tested by their class teacher when they are ready. • They will receive a badge- bronze, silver, gold and The Forest View Award.

Uniform and P.E. Kit. • Explained in diary. • Only stud earrings • No shoes with high heels. PE Kit • Plain white t-shirt, black shorts. • Trainers/ plimsolls • No football kits. • No jewellery
Healthy Eating. • We promote a healthy eating policy and a balanced diet. • Bottle of water or dilute squash. • Snacks – fruit or cereal bars at break time. • Tuck shop open at break time. • Lunchbox – healthy selection, onechocolate item, fun / treat size and one packet of crisps. • No fizzy drinks. • Dinner money – brought in an envelope on Monday – state days dinner required. • £2.30 per day.
Trips. • Kingswood Residential- Monday 16th October 2017 • Visit to Newark Castle • Other trips to be confirmed.
SATS • May 14th – 17th 2017 • Booster classes for reading/ writing/ maths throughout the year. What you can do to help? • Ensure homework and reading is complete. • Come to booster every week. • Revision books available after Christmas. • Parents’ meeting in February.
Transition • In the summer term the children will receive transition week. • There is a ‘Copers’ group for the children who may need extra transition. • Parent meetings at the secondary schools. • A teacher will come in from the school to meet the children. • Special needs meeting in the summer term.
Secondary School applications • This is not done by school • Online applications must be made before the end of October. • Please contact NCC admissions if you need help.
