Five Year SMART Goals by 2018 Population: Increase to 386,475 from the 2010 U.S. Census estimate of 375,218 Gen Y:Increase by 21,236 the 25-44 year olds from 25% to 30% of total population Jobs: Create 13,190 direct, high-wage Jobs across the Region Pay: Improve the pay rate of 19,050 existing jobs by $5,000/year Education: Increase the attainment of Bachelor and Graduate Degrees by 2,300 to 71,019 (current estimate 68,719) Business Growth: 500+ new business starts – 600 additional mid-size firms Poverty Reduction: 488 additional families with children (under five) raised out of poverty
