  11. Emblem essay During spring break I went to Florence, Italy. Florence is famous for its Renaissance. The most important family in Florence is the Medici. The Medici’s symbol is 6 balls: 5 red, 1 blue. Do you know what the balls are? They are doctor pills because before they were the creators of the renaissance they were doctors. That symbol is called a coat of arms but it is also known as an emblem. Emblems have existed since before medieval times. It was originated in England to represent the royal families. The families would all differ in emblems. Emblems are used to represent the rank of the family.

  12. Emblem essay part 2 • The image on the emblem can be animals or people or words or just objects. Or it can be all!!! • For example the royal family of UK has a lion on it. • Most of the time the images on the coat of arms represent something. For example with animals its: • Lion – deathless courage • Bear – ferocity in the protection of kind • Unicorn – extreme courage • Dragon – a most heroic defender of treasure • Axe – military duties • Horseshoe – good luck

  13. Emblem essay part 3 • Also the coat of arms always has different colors whether solid or not: • White – peace • Gold – generosity • Blue – loyalty and truth • Green – hope • Purple – rule and magic • Emblems have been around for ages even if most royals have died out, some remain to pass the family crest. • Live long the coat of arms!
