SLOW MEN WORKING
“You have heard that it was said in ancient times …” “but I say to you …” - Jesus (Matt 5: 21 ff)
Practical examples Old Testament: • Flicking of enemies into the Sea (Ex 14: 26-31) • Revenge on oppressors’ children (Psalm 137: 9) • Stoning young men for delinquency (Deut 21: 18-21)
Practical examples New Testament: • Women’s roles, in church etc, etc. (1Cor 14: 34) • Acceptance of slavery (Eph 6: 5-9) • Silence on masturbation
The Bible is Right • Justice is about providing liberation to the oppressed • Worship is to be from the heart • Love is the key to life • Grace always wins over judgment • Jesus Christ is Lord, and Guide and Saviour
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being in him was life, and the life was the light of all people. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it. (John 1: 1-5)
