  1. Is This IT The "Perfect" Church

  2. Man Cannot Make Things Perfect • From a material or spiritual viewpoint • It is not in man to ………Jeremiah 10:23O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walks to direct his steps. • Man could not create a perfect plan of salvation • He also cannot create a “perfect church”

  3. BUT … GOD is perfect and can! • Psalms 18:30 As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him. • Everything he does is perfect • He can and did create a perfect plan of salvation • He created a “PERFECT CHURCH”

  4. How, you might say? Simple, if you are God!

  5. Built upon a “perfect” foundation • Apostles and Prophets are not the perfect foundation, not the foundation at all • Ephesians 2:20And are built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; • They laid the foundation but they are not the foundation • Difference between foundations of man and that which comes from GOD

  6. Yes, they laid the foundation • 1 Corinthians 3:10-11According to the grace of God which is given to me, as a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation, and another builds thereon. But let every man take heed how he builds thereupon.  11For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

  7. Yes, they laid the foundation • Peter, Paul and the rest of the Apostles had a hand in laying it but they are not what was laid, for Christ is the foundation • Vs 11 • It was not Joseph Smith or Peter or Paul • The foundation is not mere men or the teachings of men, but of Christ !

  8. Jesus Christ is the foundation • Matthew 16:18And I say also to you, That you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. • If the church is built upon the rock, then we must know what rock it is • The rock is the foundation – Christ is the rock – the chief cornerstone

  9. Jesus Christ is the foundation • Peter is not the rock! • He didn’t die for our sins! • Neither did Paul or Phillip! • The Apostles laid the foundation of Christ by preaching about his coming. • Acts 8:5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ to them. • Many today do not “preach Christ”

  10. Governed by perfect head • “John the Baptist” is not the head of the perfect church • Luke 7:28For I say to you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he. • “Peter” is not the head of the perfect church • Acts 10:25-26And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.  26But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.

  11. Governed by perfect head • “The Pope” is not the head of the perfect church as believed by so many today • He is the head of the Roman Catholic church and is revered by his followers but he is not the foundation of the Lord’s Church! • Therefore it is not the “perfect church” • Their doctrines are corrupt and damnable

  12. Governed by perfect head • “Christ” is the only possible head of his “Perfect Church” • Ephesians 1:20-23Which he worked in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,  21Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:  22And has put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,  23Which is his body, the fullness of him that fills all in all.

  13. Governed by perfect head • It belongs to him • Ephesians 5:23-25For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the savior of the body.  24Therefore as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.  25Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

  14. Governed by perfect head • He is the builder • Matthew 16:18And I say also to you, That you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

  15. Governed by perfect head • He purchased it with his own blood • Acts 20:28Take heed therefore to yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy host has made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he has purchased with his own blood.

  16. Governed by perfect head • He is it’s head • Ephesians 5:23For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the savior of the body.

  17. Governed by perfect head • He is it’s Savior • Ephesians 5:23For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the savior of the body.

  18. Perfect Law for perfect church • Not governed by conference, convention, synod or council, none are even mentioned in scripture • Not governed by the creeds of men • But by a perfect law • James 1:25But whoever looks into the perfect law of liberty, and continues therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

  19. Perfect Law for perfect church • Can’t improve on perfection • The law of the perfect church is PERFECT • Never Revised • 2 Timothy 3:16-17All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:  17That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished to all good works.

  20. Perfect Law for perfect church • Can’t improve on perfection • The law of the perfect church is PERFECT • Never Revised • 1 Peter 4:11If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God gives: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

  21. Perfect Name for perfect church • It does not wear the name of some man or method of religion • It does not wear denominational names • Acts 4:12Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

  22. Perfect Name for perfect church • It does not wear the name of some man or method of religion • It does not wear denominational names • Romans 16:16Salute one another with an holy kiss. The churches of Christ salute you. • Christ built it, died for it, purchased it with his own blood and it WEARS HIS NAME

  23. Perfect Name for perfect church • The Church gives glory and honor to him by wearing his perfect name • The perfect church wears her husbands name • Eph 5:23-32

  24. Ephesians 5:23-32For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the savior of the body.  24Therefore as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.  25Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;26That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,  27That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.  28So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loves his wife loves himself.  29For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourishes and cherishes it, even as the Lord the church:  30For we are members of hisbody, of his flesh, and of his bones.  31For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined to his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.  32This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

  25. Perfect Name for perfect church • The Church gives glory and honor to him by wearing his perfect name • The perfect church wears her husbands name • Eph 5:23-32 • Rev 21:9

  26. Revelation of John 21:9And there came to me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come here, I will show you the bride, the Lamb's wife.

  27. Perfect System Of Worship • It’s worship is not governed by the false teachings of men • Matthew 15:9But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. • John 4:24God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. • It worships God in spirit and in truth • It continues steadfastly Ax 2:42 • It assembles on the 1st day of the week Acts 20:7, Acts 2:42

  28. Perfect Financial System • No rummage sales, garage sales, car washes, Bingo games or Lord’s Acre • Not governed by OT tithing • Perfect church follows Jesus commands • 1 Corinthians 16:2On the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God has prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.

  29. Perfect Financial System • No rummage sales, garage sales, car washes, Bingo games or Lord’s Acre • Not governed by OT tithing • Perfect church follows Jesus commands • 2 Corinthians 9:7Every man according as he purposes in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loves a cheerful giver.

  30. Perfect Law Of Entrance • John 3:3-5 Jesus answered and said to him, Truly, truly, I say to you, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.  (4) Nicodemus said to him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?  (5) Jesus answered, Truly, truly, I say to you, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

  31. Perfect Law Of Entrance • Mark 16:16 He that believes and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believes not shall be damned. • Acts 2:39 For the promise is to you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the LORD our God shall call. (41) Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added to them about three thousand souls. (47) Praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

  32. Perfect Law Of Entrance • 1 Peter 1:22-23 Seeing you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit to unfeigned love of the brothers, see that you love one another with a pure heart fervently:  (23) Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which lives and stays for ever. (25) But the word of the Lord endures for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached to you.

  33. Conclusion • Do you want to be part of the “perfect church” • Then confess your faith in Christ • Repent of your sins • Be baptized for the remission of your sins • Lord will add you to “HIS PERFECT CHURCH”
