  1. How To Calculate Business Carbon Footprint And Reduce It? Carbon offsetting is one of the most crucial methods that most businesses are adopting today to reduce the business carbon footprint. Every business utilizes some amount of energy, resources and produces a certain amount of carbon that contributes to global warming and deter the environment. Carbon offsetting helps you to compensate for the amount of carbon dioxide and equivalent gases that your business operations have produced in the environment. This helps to make the effect of business processes null and void. So where should you start? The basic thing that comes to mind before you certainly invest in carbon offsets or buy Carbon credits, the initial step you should take is to calculate your carbon footprint. Carbon footprint captures the greenhouse gas emissions on the annual basis. You can get the data from their energy, gas and water invoices, your travel history. All these will help you to calculate the amount of Co2 emitted by you or your business operations. Every organisation is different and has therefore different emission sources. A small office based company would use less energy than a larger one. there would be one or two business travels through air but it would contribute larger amounts of carbon dioxide through daily Road travel.

  2. Now you have all the data that you need to calculate the carbon footprint. You can use a basic spreadsheet to calculate it or adopt an internationally recognized standard. Once you have your carbon footprint calculated, you can identify a strategic approach to reduce these emissions and make robust targets so that your organization becomes more sustainable, energy efficient and has a net zero transition. Here are a few ways that would help you to cut down business carbon footprint:- 1. Reduce energy usage You can save energy in your office, workshops and manufacturing units by either using alternative sources of energy like solar energy and wind energy or optimizing heating and cooling systems that consume large amounts of it. Air conditioning and heating should be timed so that the systems are turned off and lots of energy is saved from being wasted. 2. Reduce your emissions from your travel If you have your own fleet, you can install GPS tracking for the collection of data and analyses the fleet’s usage. You can make this more efficient by using environment friendly fuels or switching to electric vehicles.

  3. This not only reduces the cost but also produces less harmful gases adding to the already high amount of greenhouse gases to the environment. 3. Less use of paper and plastic You can reduce the amount of paper that is used on a daily basis. You can do all your work on the computer, making your business futuristic and advanced and save the costs too. Reducing plastic use for drinking water or plastic envelopes can also reduce your business carbon footprint.

  4. Recycling the waste that you produce at your business workplace could be a good option for business carbon offsetting. You can reuse certain things to ultimately reduce the negative impact on the environment.
