Timeline • Sep 07 - DLS serve 12 months notice • Sep – Dec STFC consider alternate solutions • Jan 08 - Initial design for R31 drawn up • Feb – Jun Design discussed and altered • Jul - Applied for Planning Permission • Oct - Permission granted • Nov - Presentation to parents • Jan 09 - Refurbishment of R31 begins • Jul 09 - Nursery relocates

Options STFC considered • Adjust the existing building • Cost, complexity and time • Ask Diamond not to build the beamline • It’s the only place it can go • Approach HSIC JV • There was no contract in place • Build a new nursery for the JV to buy off us • Not enough time for project • Alternatives inside the wire • All rejected as being unsuitable • Not to provide a nursery at all (Daresbury & UKATC) • R31
