BJ Watling Eyes to Finish Well In WTC Final New Zealand batsman BJ Watling is all set to retire after the inaugural World Test Championship Final against India in Southampton which is slated to begin from June 18. He also announced his retirement from all forms of cricket before the starting of the England Test series, which New Zealand won by 1-0 a well. However, Watling said that he enjoyed his time as an international cricketer and wants to end it with a triumph in WTC Final as it will complete ‘one hell of a journey’. The WTC Final will be his 75th and last Test match as well.
“I’m just looking forward to playing another test match. It is an exciting one, and I’m certainly pretty pumped to be in the final. I’m just going into it how I do with every other test, going through the processes of trying to win a test match,” the 35-year-old was quoted as saying by stuff.co.nz. BJ Watling has made his debut way back in 2009 and took few years to seal his place in the middle order. However, he is thankful that he didn’t suffer much in injury issue throughout his career. Meanwhile, New Zealand will come in the WTC Final after beating England by 1-0 as well. “It’s obviously a massive opportunity to win a title, but I think what we’ve been doing leading into this, winning the games at home this summer, and then obviously winning a Test series against England, it’s certainly been fantastic. We’ll try and do our best and try to carry on the form that we’ve been playing in for a reasonably long period,” he further added.
