  1. iQueue Hi-fidelity Midway Milestone Xinyi Jiang | Amy Chen | Marc Doucette

  2. XINYI J. AMY C. MARC D. iQueue: faster, smarter, friendlier office hours.

  3. An office hours queue of question-based collaborative groups of students 10 minutes x 15 students = 150 minutes 20 minutes x 5 groups = 100 minutes problem solution Office hours are inefficient and require a lot of repeated explanation by TAs

  6. Confusion – buckets are a mixed metaphor, seems to convey time more than group size → got rid of buckets; not critical information anyways. – font is misleading, also conveys time → use icons to break up text – not immediately clear how to join queue → start with the bottom drawer open

  7. Lack of Flexibility – inability to change user information → move profile information to a profile screen where it can be edited – possibility of error entering class name → office hour sessions now accessible through buttons – inability to ask for general help → “other” option – inability to stop providing help once offered → “stop helping” option in pop-up on click

  8. More Information Needed – can’t see who’s in your group → view detailed question information on click – unclear task flow (what to do after signup?) → signup goes to popup confirmation – user doesn’t understand what “group” or “individual” help means + hard to find status of a question is in queue → signup prompt comes with descriptions and expected wait times – users don’t know what to do once they’re in a group → “you’ll be called up when it’s time – why not work with your group in the meantime?”

  15. Implemented Features OH Session View Profile view ( can change name) Able to request help on question (logic for group/indi help is functional) Able to volunteer to help others Able to undo question + volunteering

  16. Unimplemented Features + Plan aesthetics information customization make it prettier: clear color scheme use of images in queue make selected and helping questions clearer write in human language provide user information on other students in the queue, who can help and needs help provide estimates during signup numbers in queue option between group & individual help delay /leave place in queue Add profile image

  17. Wizard-of-Oz Techniques Possibility of adding timed events to simulate TA answering questions and other users asking questions. Estimated wait time simulated by adding six minutes per question

  18. Hard-coded Data Session data including users, topics, questions.

  19. Issues + Questions Difficulties compromising between design goals and time/technological abilities. What color(s) should we make iqueue? What is the best way for us to demo iqueue?
