  2. Force • A Force is usually a pull or a pull • The SI unit of force is Newton (N) • A simple pull or a push are known as contact forces • Forces that don’t involve any physical contact are known as field forces

  3. Force Diagrams • Force diagrams are a way to illustrate how different forces are acting on different objects • They help in finding variables in equation, for example it would be very helpful if an object is at an angled surface

  4. Newtons Laws of Physics • Sire Isaac Newton is considered the father of Modern day physics • He proved mathematically and experimentally the three basic laws of physics that exist in the universe • His first law states that: Every body continues in its state of uniform motion or rest unless compelled by some other force to act otherwise- This means that an object would stay in its position unless it is pulled or pushed; a car won’t stop unless the brakes are applies.

  5. Newton’s Second law states that: The rate of change of momentum of a body is proportional to the applied force and takes place in the direction in which the force acts- This means the force is proportional the product of its mass and acceleration • This is represented by a formula : F=ma(constant) • An example would be the Jesus Lizard which can run on water, because its mass is very low and its rate of acceleration is very high there fore its momentum is high enough to run on water.

  6. Newton's third law states that: Every action has an equal and opposite reaction- meaning that if a body applies force to another body then the opposing body will coherently apply and equal amount, not necessarily the exact, but a bit equal. • An example would be a pool game in which the ball strikes another ball but bounces back.

  7. Every Day Forces • Every day forces are the forces that are acting in our daily lives • Gravity acts on all earthly bodies-every thing that goes up must come down. • Friction is the force that is the resistance between two sliding bodies.
