  3. Genesis In 1954, the Government of India established this centre to impart training to the officers. Later the Institute was handed over to State Government of U.P. and named State Institute of Rural Development Uttar Pradesh. It was renamed as Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, State Institute of Rural development on 25th September,1991. The Institute is an apex body of the State Government for imparting training, conducting research and providing consultancy services in the rural development sector. It is located at Bakshi-Ka-Talab in rural surroundings at a distance of about 20 kms. from the city of Lucknow. This Institution is meant for training

  4. This Institution is meant for training ORGANISATION The Institute is a unit of the State Department of Rural Development. The State government exercises control over the Institute and ensure its smooth and effective functioning through a “Management Council”. The Management Council is headed by the Agriculture Production Commissioner who provides guidance, approves research proposals and training programmes and takes decisions on the policy matters relating to the Institute. Executive functions of the Institute are discharged by Director General .

  5. This Institution is meant for training VISION The vision of the Institute is the over all development of Human Resource in rural areas through Training, Research and Consultancy. Mission Our mission at SIRD is to enable people-centric, equitable development at the grassroot level. Capacity-building of stakeholders for sustainable development through training, research and consultancy in the field of Rural Development is our constant endeavour.

  6. This Institution is meant for training The Institute aims • 1. To establish an institute of excellence with modern state of the art infrastructure which could provide facilities for training. • 2. To train and harness efforts towards fulfilling the Knowledge, Attitude and Performance needs of the personnel who are at the cutting edge of the rural development-implementing machinery.

  7. This Institution is meant for training 3. To provide consultancy services to developmental activities in general and in rural areas in particular through the institute. 4. To conduct continuous Research Studies for improvement in the implementation of various programmes and schemes in the Rural Development sector. 5. To act as a data-bank and as an established back stopping institution to the State Government.

This Institution is meant for training Mandate The Institute with its constituents (RIRDs/DIRDs) endeavors to promote and help in achieving development of rural communities, specially the rural poor. For achieving these objectives it has been mandated to: 1. Conduct and assist in the organisation of training programmes, conferences, seminars and workshops for senior, middle level development managers. 2. Undertake, aid, promote and coordinate research.

This Institution is meant for training • Disseminate information through periodicals, papers and books in furtherance of the basic objectives of the Institute. • Conduct Foundation Course to newly recruited BDOs and Orientation Courses for the officers of Rural Development Departments especially for Chief Development Officers, Block Development Officers, Project Directors etc. • Provide Consultancy Services to Government and Non-government organizations and other agencies like Consumer Protection, Bureau of Indian Standards, ICDS, RTI, NACO, NIDM, UNICEF etc. in their work pertaining to Rural Development.

This Institution is meant for training The audio visual support is available in the form of Television, VCR, Overhead Projector, Charts, Demos, LCD and Computer Exercises The Faculty for the training programmes consists both of internal and external resource persons/subject-matter specialists. Training based on participant’s feed-back to fine-tune the programmes.
