  1. Current and Proposed Curriculum Updates

  2. Kindergarten A partnership between the Office of Science PreK-12 and the Office of Early Childhood Education has been created to assist with the alignment of Kindergarten programs to the recently adopted version of the Voluntary State Curriculum

  3. Grade One During the summer of 2006, a new unit, I Am a Scientist- Eco-Explorers, was created as a result of the collaboration between the Office of Science PreK-12, the Office of Mathematics PreK-12, and the Office of Gifted and Talented Education.

  4. Grade Two During the 2006-2007 school year, SKEETERS will be in its first year of full implementation.

  5. Grade Three During the 2006-2007 school year, Safe Racer will be in its first year of full implementation, and Eco-Detectives will be piloted.

  6. Grade Four During the 2006-2007 school year, Fossil Detectives & Eco-Scouts are in full implementation, and Too Hot To Handle will be piloted.

  7. Grade Five During the 2006-2007 school year, Pendulums Swing as Pendulums Do has been piloted and is undergoing final revisions.

  8. Looking Ahead Future Curriculum Plans

  9. Grades PreK-2 Continue Investigating collaboration opportunities among various curriculum offices after the successful partnership that was realized this summer for the writing team of Eco-Explorers

  10. Grade Three: Revise GT component for Safe Racer Additional STEM Units: *Safe Racer Physics Discovering the Earth Discovering Matter *Starlab Unit: Star Search Save the Chesapeake Bay (items with an asterisk are items currently in progress)

  11. Grade Four: Creation of additional STEM Units: Exploring Space *Electrifying Science Exploring Matter Maryland Surface Features and Environmental Conditions CSI Chemistry (items with an asterisk are items currently in progress)

  12. Grade Five: Creation of additional STEM Units: *Weather the Weather *Rocks and Minerals Force and Motion Investigating Earth: Constructive and Destructive Forces *Greening Your Schoolyard: The Green School Project (items with an asterisk are items currently in progress)
