  2. Background • Founded in 1966 • Mission: Conserve and protect the natural, historical, and cultural resources of the Eno River

  3. Survey Results • Surveyed 110 UNC Students • Of the 110 students: • Only 15 had heard of the Eno River Association • 40% said they would be willing to give time • 27% said they would give money • 11% said they would give both

  4. Survey Results Cont. • How much money were students willing to give? • 6% said they would give $26-50 • 34% said $11-25 • 45% said $1-10 • 14% said $0 • 46% are concerned about preserving land; 44% were unsure

Grocery Store Results • Wellspring • 6 of 15 had heard of the organization • Learned of the Association through variety of sources • Results similar to student results except: • 43% said that they would give money, 21% said both time and money, 14% said time • 43% said they would give $26 – 50 • 11 of 15 concerned about preserving land

  6. Grocery Store Results • Harris Teeter • All 8 had never heard of the organization • Results similar to student results except: • More people said they would give time or time and money • 50% were concerned about preserving land and 50% were unsure • Most people got their information from TV

  7. Informational Objectives • To increase awareness of the Eno River Association among UNC students and Orange County residents by 40%. • Tactics & Strategies: • News releases • Suggestion: Create and distribute brochures to local grocery stores • Informational packet

  8. Attitudinal Objective • To increase, by 25%, the number of all Orange County audiences who are concerned about preserving natural areas and parklands. • Strategies and Tactics • Human interest story news releases • Brochure - suggested • PSA for radio

  9. Behavioral Objectives • To increase the number of Orange County residents who are members of the Eno River Association by 20%. • Strategies and Tactics • Suggested - membership drive / fundraiser • Eno River Rubber Ducky Race!

Behavioral Objectives • To increase the number of UNC students who volunteer for the Eno River Association or are members by 25%. • Strategies and Tactics • Recruit members from existing environmental and service organizations on campus • Membership information packet • Speakers at group meetings
