Dried Fruit Company Expanding Business • Site Assessment 14AUG13 • Barg-e-Sabz dried fruit company claims to be the third largest dried fruit handler/shipper in Kabul after Tabasom Raisin Factory and one other company. • Barg-e-Sabz runs a 95% percent manual re-packing operation, but achieves remarkably good quality upscale finished product by using 4-color plastic consumer packaging custom printed in China. A simple manual heat sealer closes the plastic packaging with good results. • Owner is conservative, but younger manager wants to grow faster to supply good demand. • Ongoing Action • Invited Barg-e-Sabz to 21AUG Kabul Chamber of Commerce presentation Solar Fruit Drying and also to tour Wise Global Group solar fruit dryer. • Facilitating exchange of dried fruit samples between three Iraqi dried fruit companies and Barg-e-Sabz and two other Afghan dried fruit traders. Planning to exchange samples of fresh crop dried fruit in October. Iraqi companies are preparing to send date and other samples to three Afghanistan dried fruit trading companies.
