  2. With kind donation from Cognizant Outreach, The We Foundation organized a five day campaign to reach 600 families of daily wage workers and migrants with dry ration and hygiene kits to ensure that the families have enough food on the table for at least 15 days amid Covid crisis. The campaign covered both rural and urban parts of Bengal.

  3. Measures to curb community spread of coronavirus The We Foundation’s Rapid Response Team in coordination with the Government conducted active case searches by organizing community-based rapid screening of families in the locations where we distributed relief kits to the families. The screening was done by Government healthcare workers and suspected cases were linked with the nearest Government health facilities with the help of Local Police, frontline health workers and Block/Municipal Administration. Therefore, we are not only ensuring food security but also curbing community spread of the disease.

  4. Rural India and Urban India Distributed The We Foundation’s rapid response team distributed 356 food and hygiene kits to migrant and daily wagers in the select locations. The Gram Panchayat Pradhan, Upa Pradhan were present in the relief camp. Two frontline health workers of Government were screening the people and three suspected cases were taken to the nearby Government health centre for covid-19 testing. Prior to the campaign, the team of 15 members conducted a thorough screening of all households at the gram sansad level to avoid wastage of resources and select families received food tokens, mentioning the food and hygiene kit distribution date and time. Since social distancing is an effective way to stem the community spread of the virus, we had given different time slots to beneficiaries to ensure the social distancing norms. A total of 44 families of daily wage earners especially rickshaw pullers, van pullers, domestic help, carpenters, cobblers, barbers received dry ration and hygiene kits. Most of the daily wage earners are finding it difficult to arrange two square meals per day. Celebrating India’s 74th Independence Day with the Homeless and Daily Wage Workers.
