  1. Proposal for Ad-Hoc Committee on New Initiatives Andrea Goldsmith IT Society BOG MeetingJune 24, 2007 ISITNice, France

  2. Why is a new initiatives committee needed? • We want to maximize the value of our society to its members. • New initiatives to increase this value are rare, and typically come from standing/ad hoc committees or BOG/executive BOG members • This committee will provide a dedicated mechanism for soliciting, developing, and evaluating new initiatives.

  3. Proposed Committee Structure • Chair appointed by ITSOC president • 2 year term for continuity • Chair would appoint 3-5 members for 2 year terms

  4. Committee Responsibility • Solicit proposals for new initiatives from all standing committees, chapter chairs, and members • Report to the BOG at least once a year with a summary of proposals made and recommendations, including cost estimates • Monitor the progress and impact of initiatives already approved and make recommendations for changes or discontinuation when warranted.

  5. Motion • Move for the BOG to approve formation of an ad-hoc committee on new initiatives. • If approved, recommend the committee be formed immediately, with its first report given at Allerton.
