  1. College Academy Update Rebecca Hoyt Dean of College Academy September 13, 2018

A Brief Update on the 1st Cohort of the College Academy Students are traveling to UAH and taking pre-major courses (Principles of Macroeconomics, Intro to Ethics, Precalculus with Trig, or Calculus on the UAH campus for either 3 or 4 credit hours Spring Semester the students will continue their progress with English Lit 102, World History 103 and a second pre-major course Total End of the year college credit hours earned will total 42-44 hours • The 1st cohort has now earned 24 hours of college credit! • Participated in a Balloon Satellite research project with UAH Space Hardware Club, digital animation project during their sophomore year, and Informational Literary Project this upcoming year • 1st cohort are presently taking UAH courses: Psychology 101, English Lit 101 on the Jemison Campus for an additional 6 hours

A Brief Update on the 2nd Cohort of the College Academy • End of Sophomore Year, students will have earned 22 hours of college credit • Participated with the UAH Student Success Center on improving Reading Strategies and Time Management • Music 100, and Political Science/American Government 101 with UAH this Fall • Spring Semester Psychology 101 and English 101 • Undergraduate research during Freshman year in Rocketry and as a Sophomore, a sustainability focus with Water Monitoring and testing

A Brief Update on the 3nd Cohort of the College Academy • UAH Orientation for 2nd cohort was held Saturday, July 30 @ UAH • Student ID’s • CANVAS accounts • Learned about support services, library & research, extracurricular activities, etc. • The 3rd cohort took their first college course this summer – FYE 101 – and earned their first college credit hour • This fall semester they are presently taking World Literature and Culture-Spanish 101 for 3 hours of college credit and will continue with 102 in the spring adding Theater/122 for an additional 6 hours of credit • Total college credit hours after Freshman Year will be 10 hours
