The Fascinating World of Dauphin Island Oysters: Habitats, Culinary Delights, and Pearls

Oysters are incredible shellfish that thrive on the seafloor, forming extensive beds in coastal regions. These beds, found in places like New England and Dauphin Island, are vital for marine ecosystems. There are various ways to enjoy oysters, from savory chowders in the north to raw or baked delicacies in the south. Notably, oysters sometimes produce pearls when sand enters their shells. Whether baked with parmesan or enjoyed raw with hot sauce, these sea creatures offer unique flavors and culinary experiences that vary by region.
