  1. FSAE – Status Update 2 FSAE 2014

  2. Rolling Chassis 1/5 • The intake, exhaust, drivetrain, fuel, and cooling systems have been installed. • Preliminary engine testing is good. • Further tuning will be done on the dynamometer. FSAE 2014

  3. Rolling Chassis 2/5 • The intake has been fabricated and installed and the team is planning on testing several varieties of restrictors with a CFD program to find the best flow for our needs. FSAE 2014

  4. Rolling Chassis 3/5 • The electrical system has been wired to a temporary terminal board to allow testing. When we receive the MoTec display we will wire the ECU and HMI up to a main junction box. FSAE 2014

  5. Rolling Chassis 4/5 • Road Testing Has begun in preparation for the Pungo Auto Cross on April 13th. • This next month will give the team needed time to adjust engine tune, handling stability and endurance performance to prepare for the Michigan race. FSAE 2014

  6. Rolling Chassis 5/5 • Aerodynamic Analysis: Utilizing the Computational Fluid Dynamics program COMSOL, with the SolidWorks Model, analysis is being conducted in order to maximize down force and minimize drag. 6 FSAE 2014

  7. Testing Need to examine the following: • Turn Radius • Fuel Consumption • Driver Controls • Braking • Acceleration • Cornering (understeer/oversteer) • Center of Gravity FSAE 2014

  8. Work To Be Completed • The body panels will be fabricated and analysis with the CFD program COMSOL will provide estimated performance data. • The MoTec display will be installed along with data acquisition sensors to provide performance feedback. • The suspension system will to be optimized for caster, camber, toe and ride height during testing. • The most important:Representing ODU at the Formula SAE Michigan competition on May 14th! FSAE 2014
