  1. Love and Honour • It was also out of honour that Rudolf refused two offers made by Michael and a third one made by Rupert to betray the king and Sapt and Fritz. It was the lack of honour that drove both Michael and Rupert to do everything to achieve their wicked aims. • Antoinette loved Michael and did everything that was possible to prevent him from being the King because if it had happened, he would have married Flavia. • Rupert loved Antoinette. He was very jealous of Michael and killed him at the end of the novel.

  2. 5- Duty • Duty played an important role in the story. It was out of duty that Rudolf agreed to go to the coronation to prevent Michael from being crowned and robbing the King’s throne. I • It was also the sense of duty that pushed Rudolf to fight Michael to free the real King. • Sapt and Fritz stood by Rudolf against Michael for the sake of the their beloved King. • It was also because of her duty towards her people and her country that Princess Flavia refused to go with Rudolf and sacrificed her love.
