  4. What are the possible causes of common faults in a diesel generator? • Regular maintenance of a generator is essential to ensure consistent performance. • If you fail to do that there are several complications that may come your way. • Following are some of the most common generator problems: • Failure to start: One of the most common issues that many people face is that their generator fails to start. • This could be because the controls are not set on ‘auto’ mode but on the "off/reset" position. • This causes the generator to remain inactive even when there is a power outage.

  5. What are the possible causes of common faults in a diesel generator? • Leaks: Fuel, coolant or lubricating oil leaks is also the most commonly faced problem in a diesel generator. • Leaks can be traced to increased temperature in the system. • For instance, block heater hoses fail due to temperature rise resulting in coolant leaks. • Apart from this, gasket failure also leads to leaking. • Lack of fuel: Fuel gauges may fail to indicate the fuel levels accurately. • Hence, it is advised to manually check the oil level and be prepared with extra supply if refueling is needed.

  6. What are the possible causes of common faults in a diesel generator? • Wet stacking is also a common occurrence and it is often confused with ‘leaks’. • Wet stacking occurs when unburned fuel accumulates in the system. • This happens when the generator runs under a light load for a prolonged period of time. • Battery failure: Mostly battery failures can be traced to the accumulation of lead sulfates on the plates of lead-acid batteries. • To avoid battery failure and ensure the smooth functioning of the generator set, it is recommended to replace the battery every three years.
