  2. The beginning of my story My name is Apu and I am 13 years old. I lost my family in war so I was by myself for a very long time and I had nothing to eat and nowhere to live. The only way I could survive was by finding leftover food in trashcans and on the floor. I lived on the street not knowing whether I would wake up the next day in one piece. Sometime I would even wake to sound of shotguns and shouting.

  3. Fleeing I knew that Afghanistan was a very dangerous place to live and if I didn’t flee I wouldn’t be alive for much longer.
