  7. Usually Needed Information • Transcript • Teacher Recommendations • Counselor Recommendations • Student credentials/resume • Application • Student Essay • Additional relevant info (SAT, ACT info. FASFA info, ect)

What’s the MRHS Processto get you started… • Receive 4 folders from counseling center (April) *(information inside folders to be completed by student and parents and returned) • 2 red folders to be returned to selected teachers (Ask teachers for deadlines)* • 1 manila folder to be returned to counseling center (June 1st)* • One resource folder for your convenience at home

Folder Contents To Be Returned!!(Samples Attached) • Yellow Release of Record/Transcript Request form -- This form should be returned to the Registrar, Mrs. Pratt. • Waiver of Right to See Counselor/Teacher Letters of Recommendation. – Return to Counselor/Teacher. • Autobiographical Sketch -- Each Autobiographical Sketch should be tailored to the teacher from whom you are requesting a recommendation.  Cite examples specific to that particular class. Return to Counselor/Teacher. • Teacher Recommendation -- Students complete name only. Return to teacher. (secondary form may be required) • Student Credential – This form should be typed or use current resume. Return copy to Counselor/Teacher. (give updated credentials after summer if necessary) • Parent Questionnaire – Return copies to Counselor and Teachers

MRHS TRANSCRIPT TIMELINE • Return completed folders • Make appt w/ counselor • Student athletes visit NCAA website • Review essays with English teachers • Be aware of deadlines (4 weeks prior) • Request official transcript • Alert teachers, counselor to send recs (incl addressed envelope) • Try to have process complete! • Check hcpss.org for scholarships • Visit Colleges • Receive folders • Select Teachers • Complete all forms in folders • Visit colleges • Visit campus, gather info and request and start applications • Start college Essays • Finish up applications!! DON’T BE LATE

  11. Follow the Steps…After research and decisions have been made… • Student complete college application. (online (preferred, or hard copy) • Read directions CAREFULLY!!!!!!! • Make sure all required information is sent in, SAT/ACT (directly from the college board). • Inform counselor/teacher what colleges you have applied to give them addressed stamped envelope. • Counselors/teachers will mail letters of recommendation directly. (Teacher will keep record of request in your folder • Bring transcript request form to Mrs. Pratt with addressed stamped envelope. • You will be called down to review and received transcript.

NCAA Clearinghouse– Student Athletes(any student interested in participating in Div I or II athletics in college) • Register – after completion of Junior year • Fill out form available on https://www.ncaaclearinghouse.net/NCAA/student/index_student.html The student will then print out 2 copies (return to Mrs. Pratt in Counseling Center) • The preliminary (mailed immediately after request) • The final (mailed after graduation) • Further Questions • Contact your coach, counselor, or NCAA directly at 1 (800) 638-3731 Attach transcript request form to the copies

Class Rank • What is it? • What is it based on? • Does every college require it? • When do we find out ours? • Where you rank in comparison to other students in your class. • GPA so there can be more than one student in a particular rank. • No but some may request it. • Oct 1st of senior year.
