CREATION

Discover the compelling evidence supporting the truth of creation as presented in Genesis, and how it aligns with scientific principles. Explore the theory of evolution, natural selection, and the role of science in understanding the natural world. Learn about the concept of "kinds" in creation, the source of water before the flood, and the possibility of a young Earth. Dive into Colossians 1:15-16 and understand Christ as the center of creation.

  1. CREATION IS IT TRUE?

  2. Resources: • Genesis 1-11 • Institute for Creation Research, icr.org • Answersingenesis.org, Ken Ham • Creation.com

  3. 1 Peter 3:14-15, Apologetics But even if you should suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are blessed. And do not fear their intimidation, and do not be troubled, 15 but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you…

  4. …to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence.

  5. Genesis 1:31, Very Good God saw all that He had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.

  6. Why do you believe the Bible is true? • It is historically accurate. • It is not in conflict with science. • It makes sense intellectually. • It has changed my life.

  7. Theory of Evolution • It was first formulated in Charles Darwin's book "On the Origin of Species" in 1859. • It is the process by which organisms change over time as a result of changes in heritable physical or behavioral traits.

  8. Natural Selection • The process by which plants and animals that can adapt to changes in their environment are able to survive and reproduce while those that cannot adapt do not survive. • Survival of the Fittest

  9. Science – observable evidence • Science: Knowledge about or study of the natural world based on facts learned through experiments and observation. • Microevolution: Evolution on a small scale, over a shorter period of time — within a single “population”.

  10. Population – living things that can interbreed. (species, kind) • Macro evolution – refers to any evolutionary change at or above the level of species.

  11. Genesis 1:25 – Kinds in Creation • God made the beasts of the earth after their kind, and the cattle after their kind, and everything that creeps on the ground after its kind; and God saw that it was good.

  12. Genesis 6:19, Kinds in the Ark • 19 And of every living thing of all flesh, you shall bring two of every kind into the ark, to keep them alive with you; they shall be male and female.

  13. Macro Micro

  14. Where did all the water come from? Genesis 2:6, Mist Before the Flood • But a mist used to rise from the earth and water the whole surface of the ground.

  15. Genesis 1:6-8, Waters Above • 6 Then God said, “Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.” 7 God made the expanse,…

  16. …and separated the waters which were below the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse; and it was so. 8 God called the expanse heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, a second day.

  17. Genesis 7:11-12, Fountains from the Deep • 11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on the same day all the fountains of the great deep burst open, and the floodgates of the sky were opened. 12 The rain fell upon the earth for forty days and forty nights.

  18. Could the Earth be Young? • Catastrophism is the theory that the Earth has been affected in the past by sudden, short-lived, violent events, possibly worldwide in scope. • Young Earth Theory is possible.

  19. Uniformitarianism is the theory in which slow incremental changes, such as erosion, created all the Earth's geological features.

  20. Colossian 1:15-16, Christ the Center 15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him.
