    3. What is the HKIVE / QMUL Honours degree programme? An Honours B.Sc. Degree in Computer Science, From Queen Mary, University of London, Studied here in Hong Kong at HKIVE (Chai Wan) Taught by Queen Mary academic staff and HKIVE academic staff.

    4. What will I be studying: New Students Entering 2007/8

    5. Final Year Options (Yr 2) Part-time evening cohort only: 2 core modules in both semester A and B Plus choice of either: Individual Project (2 course units) or 2 taught modules. Individual Project option offered to eligible students only (based on performance in first year) Individual Project is not a requirement. Students may opt to take two taught modules instead.

    6. How the degree is taught Support from QMUL: Access to QM Learning and assessment materials Online directed learning using web-based materials. Online coursework submissions Online discussion forums as primary method for communicating with QM Lectures Online Teaching and student support from UK staff. HKIVE Provides: Taught classes / laboratory sessions in HK under direction of QMUL academic staff. Tutorial and teaching support from local HKIVE staff. Written examinations and project demonstrations at IVE Student support and facilities at HKIVE and the classroom sessions in Chai Wan

    8. Using Email All student are assigned a personal DCS email account e.g. <DCSusername>@dcs.qmul.ac.uk Used for all email communication with QMUL staff Alternative email accounts may be blocked by email filters and firewalls. Email accounts should be checked regularly ( every 24 hours)

(top arrow points to name of course) Check regularly for announcements Post any questions you have in the ‘Questions and Discussions’ area (bottom arrow) Read posts from other student and reply if you wish. Setting DCS account password Go to: https://www.dcs.qmul.ac.uk/password First Time users – must input pre-assigned “account unlocking code” to access DCS account (WARNING – must input correctly first time. Password valid for one use only!!) Account username, student email address and “account unlocking code” will be distributed at induction session. New users must set a new password. Information will be given out in the introductory lab session. NOTE: Choose a secure password Do not use dictionary words as passwords The systems team run a password cracking programme and any insecure passwords will by flagged up. Users will be informed if they are found to be using an insecure password. Accounts may be locked until a more secure password is selected. Accessing Electronic Engineering Modules Via DCS intranet - access EE module resources via “Recommended programme” Input DCS username and Initial password Intial password set to: Student exam number followed immediately by student number (found on QM student card) Please note for initial password: exam number is upper case student number includes the leading zero for example: AB123069123456 Once initial password accepted, you must reset your EE account password to same password used for your DCS account!
