  4. Drainage basin A drainage basin is any area of land where precipitation collects and drains off into a common outlet, such as into a river, bay, or other body of water LO: To be able to identify, describe and explain the features of a drainage basin

  7. Confluence A confluence is the meeting of two or more bodies of water. It usually refers to the point where a tributary joins a more major river called the mainstream. LO: To be able to identify, describe and explain the features of a drainage basin

  8. Tributary A tributary is a stream or river which flows into a mainstream or (parent) river and which does not flow directly into a sea. LO: To be able to identify, describe and explain the features of a drainage basin
