  2. The Carnival - the largest folk Brazilian festival.The Carnival in Rio de Janeiro is known all around the world and attracts a lot of tourists.

  3. The first carnival celebrations called "Entrudo" (fromLatin word "entrance") The Brazilian carnival began in 1723 with the arrival of immigrants from the Portuguese islands of Madeira, the Azores and Cape Verde.

  4. This holiday since old days passed 40 days prior to the Holy Week and was an original boundary behind which the Great post began. Many people argue, that has served as the beginning of carnival tradition. In its start was the portugal “Fun day " - a holiday when it was accepted to fool each other in the every possible ways: to pour out the water, throw crude eggs, corn and a string bean. Girls usually throw from balconies at heads of the boys who have liked by them, but boys did not take offence at it, but also perceived it as flirting.

  5. In 1840 the first carnival ball was held.A lot of masks, mustaches and beards were brought to a traditional mask shop from abroad to make carnival costumes

  6. In 1907, there was "Corso" - a procession of cars - has become one of the main shows in the Carnival of Rio de Janeiro.

  7. For 4 days he becomes a full owner of the city. Traditionally, the Carnival in Brazil begins with the "official part" - a symbolic handing of the key of the city mayor to the King of the Carnival.
