  3. The challenge of shifting public transport attitudes Perceptions of delays and congestion puts people off public transport more than it puts them off driving.

  4. Attitudes to environmental aspects of driving Interest in alternatives and concerns about driving habits are lower among those with lower incomes.

  5. Reactions to rising fuel prices in the future Interest in fuel-efficient cars highest among men (40-55) and higher income groups.

  6. Getting on your bike 54% of non-cyclists are ‘seriously considering’ cycling for short journeys in the future. Two-fifths of those in work or education reported that there are no secure cycling facilities where they work / studied. A third are willing to travel in a car / bus that took longer because of increased cycling, 39% would not. 36% of people believe there are no cycleways near them, a further 10% aren’t sure.   8. Smart approaches to energy - awareness and interest Just 16% have used advice or services from an energy supplier to help reduce usage. “My belief is that they are a gimmick. Putting a number on energy isn’t useful, it’s the attitude in general that’s important.” Base: 2,081 adults Source YouGov

  11. Appetite for working at home outstripping behaviour and employer willingness 26% think that working from home would make a real improvement to their work / life balance. Again felt evenly between men and women. The 25-34s and those with young children are the keenest to work from home. Base: 1,503 working adults Source YouGov

  12. Many home workers experience technical issues that limit productivity 59% have access software that links home and the office. Only 22% have access to telephone conferencing facilities. 11% to video conferencing from home. Base: 429 home workers Source YouGov
