  2. How to choose the right IP Rating of a cabinet IP Ratings: Why is it important? When it comes to the analysis of the level of protection, one must understand that uniformity and conformity to a set standard are essential to defining protection. Hence, Ingress Protection Ratings (IP Ratings) were established by a European Committee to standardize products related to the electro-technical domain. The concept of IP Ratings legitimized the product protection claim and ensured a specific level of protection provided by an enclosure against either solid or fluid intrusion. The first digit in IP Ratings represents protection against solid and mechanical objects, while the second digit represents protection against fluid materials. Outdoor IT installations need more protection than their indoor counterparts. Hence, the cabinets for outdoor IT installations must be built with high IP standards to ensure resilience. The IP standards vary between IP00 to IP68, where 00 offers zero protection and 68 offers complete protection within a defined depth and time frame denoting IEC60529. https://www.netrackindia.com/
