  3. Who are we? not psychologists or mental health professionals - but Programmes developed with Psychological Input 21 years experience of working with hardest to help clients with multiple barriers including mental health challenges.

  4. Who do we work with? Clients with multiple barriers including Long term unemployed Homeless Lone Parents Offenders & ex-offenders Disadvantaged young people People with mental health challenges

  5. What is GOALS Ashort sharp group intervention PLUS skilled 1 on 1 Coaching. A blend of: - group CBT positive psychology NLP solution/work focussed motivational interviewing person centred

  6. Where are we now individuals too often failing or “being failed” value of work underestimated school a painful experience – “fear of learning” prisons are full up high rates of re-offending cynical media bad news/soaps

  7. Where are we now people are isolated, alienated and scared old certainties diminishing - a secure job, family support, sense of community blame culture immediate gratification learned helplessness – low aspirations co-dependency

  8. Where are we now UNICEF research concluded UK is worst country in developed world for young people to grow up 1 in 4 of us will have some sort of mental health problems in our lives. deep seated psychological problems needing “psychological solutions” (staff and clients)

  9. Layard report June 2006 1 in 6 people in the UK would be diagnosed as having depression or chronic anxiety disorder (6 million) 40% of people on IB are there because of mental illness Only 25% of those diagnosed are in treatment CBT has 50% short term success (even works for schizophrenia)
