  2. Budget Project You and your partner are SHARING a bank account! You will account for your expenses for the entire year Requirements: a completed chart an essay explaining the chart a visual a presentation of expenses

  3. Budget Project Goal: To be as realistic as possible given your income level and to experience budgeting given real life situations Part of your grade is based on your effort and how well you maintain realism Ask teachers, parents, friends about expenses! BEING REALISTIC IS KEY!!!!

  4. Budget Project Timeline: Friday: Introduce task, begin discussing expenses Monday: Decide on living arrangements, begin discussing cars, begin completing chart Tue/Wed: Continue working on chart, adjust expenses, double check realistic numbers, begin Powerpoint Thurs: Finalize expenses, finalize PowerPoint, work on essay Friday/Monday: Presentations DUE DATE: FRIDAY 12/14!!!!!

  5. Your job is: • Once you receive your occupation, write that and the salary (pre-tax income) at the top of the chart. • To take out taxes/benefits, multiply your pre-tax income by .7. This symbolizes the 70% of your income you actually take home. THIS number is what you will use to budget.

  6. Today • Discuss with your partner basic lifestyle choices. • Make a grocery list • Discuss things like cell phones, activities you like to do, travel plans • REMEMBER: You ARE NOT high school students in this simulation!!!!!
